I just (3/24/16) saved a lot that is being marked as "original by" someone else. My game is updated to the latest patch. This house is HUGE and took me so long to complete (and has some complicated building that will make doing the room save thing pretty unreasonable/tedious to do as a fix). I record and upload my builds to YouTube, so this is especially troubling for me, as I do not want my viewers to think I am trying to take credit for someone else's work. And even if they didn't think this, as I have recorded evidence that I built it, it just irks me that my hard work is credited to some random person! I thought this was supposed to be fixed!!! this is so frustrating.

@ambrjet Did you BULLDOZE the lot after the patch ?

Yeah, if you ever had anything on there, the tag was till retain. Next time before you build, bulldoze the lot and then build. You should not have the issue anymore

@crinrict wrote:Yes, they can't fixed this for lots affected.
Try the method described in the solution post
I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be difficult @crinrict I'm just confused. So I tried resaving the lot to my library but it's still showing 'originally by' another person.
I am updated to latest patch.
I realize there's the 'room by room' solution but I don't have any rooms since it's a park.
Is there a way to try to save/upload this so the creator can be updated with the patch? Do I download it from library even though it's showing another person, then reupload it?
Or is my only option to delete it?
I've been trying to mess around with it for a few hours and just can't seem to get anywhere.

Since your lot was already uploaded with the tag, there's no other way to get rid of it then the method described.
@BryonyRae posted earlier that you can do it for parks too but she would need to tell you how as I'm not a building specialist.

Sad to report that this is still happening, it happened to me today. Let me give you a little story behind it. I downloaded a friend's lounge for my world back in 2014, then demolished it and built my own (version 1). It was saving as originally mine, no problems. I then rebuilt it and version 2 was still saving as originally by me. I now (in 2016) got around to redoing it, so I bulldozed the old (version 2) and built version 3. THIS version is now saving as originally made by my friend, because of their lot I briefly had on the piece of land 2 YEARS AGO.
I bulldozed numerous times. Two of the previous builds on the same piece of land were labeled as mine. Why this one suddenly 2 years later is saving as originally by someone else is beyond my comprehension...
I managed to fix this issue last time it happened to me but right now I tried the old solution and it's not working. It's beyond irritating.

That's bad news, @ju1ka. Could I get some clarifications?
March 2016
1. Either on the day of the patch (but after it went live), or the day after the patch. Either way, after the patch.
2. No unfortunately I did not, as I figured it wouldn't be an issue. Like I said, I've had 2 different variations of the build on this lot already, both of which were at one point saved to my library and did not display "original by: not you".
3. See 2.
4. It took me a couple days to finish the build, which was completed today (25th March). This is when I saved it to my library and noticed the bug.
5. I did not. I tried several potential fixed in a span of about 3 hours. As I previously said, I managed to fix this problem on one occasion in the past, but for some reason today the fix did not work. I tried everything I could think of - cleared caches, started a new game, changed type/name/description, had sims buy it as retail, and so on. Nothing worked.
I have now rebuilt the whole thing bit by bit, room and room and it's no longer an issue, but it's still beyond annoying. :-/

@BryonyRae wrote:@Huismusch You can preserve outdoor areas as well, by drawing rooms around them. It won't preserve any terrain paint, but it will preserve the objects you have placed.
This did work for me. But heads up to everyone that when you make an outdoor venue, such as a park, a room you lose the terrain paint as mentioned but also trees, fences, 'outdoor only' items like a jungle gym, so it does take a little bit of editing and redoing it but much better than starting over 100%!
Now that there is a new patch when I put it on a new lot (bulldozed to be safe) it did work.
