Game files deleted

★★ Novice

I started having a problem randomly on my sims 4 game where it would freeze at the logo opening screen and I couldn't get on (mac btw). I read i may've turned my game settings up too high and to fix this problem i could remove the settings folder so they were set to default once again and it would unfreeze my game - this didn't work.

I found another website that said to fix it i need to repair the game in origin, so I did. Although it's fixed my initial problem, hours and hours of gameplay, family development, a completely filled out world and etc has been deleted. The files are missing, and i can't bring myself to play the game anymore knowing how much I've lost and how long it will take to build it up again- my game was PERFECT.

Please tell me theres a way of getting back my files because nowhere did it say repairing my game would also remove everything. helpppppp

I don't know how the file-system works on Mac, but do you have any save-files in the save folder?

On PC: C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves
And do you use onedrive?

No, the saves folder is empty except for the new couple of files added since I've played the game after everything disappeared. I don't use onedrive, why? Standard smile  @CMeki

Hi, a long time ago I unchecked the documents setting so they wouldn't go to iCloud. My settings seem fine and were exactly what the link asked for :/ the problem started when I repaired my game. I greatly appreciate your help x

@Imxrii

Ok. SO you have no Electronic Arts folder in your Documents folder?

@Bluebellflora

What? Of course I do.

I was responding to the iCloud thing which asks me to untick documents going to iCloud (a setting I already had in place)

My saves are missing, nothing else.
