Sims wear outfits I didn't assign to them.

Occasionally I run into Sims that look absolutely ridicilous, while they shouldn't.
They just decide to wear an outfit that is not assigned to them, and it looks awful. (Randomized accesories should be kicked out of the game, really...)
It's both played and unplayed households, and it mainly happens in clubs and bars and I suspect it may be linked to bartending.

Do you assign outfits to all your Sims NPC/PC alike ? Which outfits are most affected ?

It is possible that they get new stuff assigned when they grow up.

It's probably work outfits, as the sims that were affected all were bartenders.
