Disk Won't Read Once Game is Open

I am trying to play on my Mac. I am able to install the game and everything, but it doesn't open up the game. I get to the sims home page, but when I hit play it opens the game but says there is no disk. I'm not sure what to do. I have tried restarting the computer, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game and expansions, I've also tried downloading it straight to Origin. Any ideas on how to fix this??? Please help! I miss the sims

@goshanor  The latest versions of mac OS won't authenticate discs, which is why your computer wouldn't read it properly.  The only solution is to install through Origin.

Even though you already uninstalled, if you used the uninstaller, it may have missed some files.  (Perhaps this is why the Origin install didn't work.)  Here's a guide on how to uninstall manually:

If Origin isn't cooperating, you can reset it using the reset tool for macs:

Once you have done so, you can install through Origin.  It's a good idea to first install the base game only, then patch to 1.67 using the digital version of the Super Patch.

Try running just the base game.  If you get an unknown error message, you probably have a processor/graphics card combination that's incompatible with the game.  This may be fixable, by editing the .sgr files, but there's no guarantee.  (If this happens, please post back here with your computer's model number, or just consult the link below.)  Hopefully, this won't be a problem.

Once you get the base game running, you can add your packs.  If you install any of Ambitions, Late Night, Fast Lane, and Outdoor Living, you'll get the unknown error again.  There are two fixes, both of which are relatively simple.  Check out the the links below for how to address the error.
