why does sims 3 pet expansion keep crashing?

At first I could not launch the game at all.  I got support for my video driver and now I can launch and play the game, but after a couple of hours it crashes.  The play also seems to lag, taking a hour ( game time not real time )for simple tasks such as using toilet, making my sim always late.  I had windows 7 and just upgraded to 10, both worked the same.  My system does meet requirements.   I have had the game for 3 years and still trying to play.

For Sims 3, add ts3.exe and/or ts3w.exe
