Why won't it let me play my new game?

When I'm playing my game on Sims 3 Generations, I create my sims then choose their household then when I click 'start playing with this household!' It doesn't go any further and it just stay there, yet it isn't frozen as I can still buy new properties, I haven't edited anything like my town so i don't know what to do to fix it. PLEASE HELP IT'S ANNOYING 😤😭😤😭
