Sims 3 -- during the night, it's too dark -- how can I adjust

For some reason, after the up-date, when it is nighttime in the Sims 3, I can hardly see anythng, I can barely see my sim. I looked on my options and the brightness is at 100%. What can I do to fix this problem? Please help, I didn't have this problem before. Thank you.

Did you try adjusting the brightness on your screen ? Do the lights in your house work properly ? Can you see your Sims inside the house ?
