Installing late night.

★★★★ Novice

Hi, hope someone can help.

I have Sims 3 and a few expansions already installed on my computer and I bought and installed them all from and through Steam.

I today saw Origin had an awesome sale on for Late Night expansion so I decided to buy it thinking I wouldn't have a problem installing.

After downloading the late night expansion I am now getting 'must have Sims 3 installed'...erm I do? I'm guessing there is some issue with having the base game for Steam and the expansion from Origin?

How do I fix this?

Thanks.

No, you don't need to rebuy anything.

You can redeem the Steam codes to register your games at Origin. Did you check on myGames if they already show up there ? Since you've probably already registered at thesims3.com, they might be already on there.

FIrst backup your user data and you'll still have everything.

See this for instructions: http://sims3.crinrict.com/en/2011/03/faq-what-files-should-i-backup.html

Then check that the games properly show up on Origin or redeem your codes. If they do, uninstall all Steam versions from your computer and then install the Origin ones instead.

You have to do it this way since it's not possible to redeem Origin keys on Steam.

Should you have any issues, redeeming your Steam codes, you'll need to get in touch with a customer support game advisor

You can't mix Steam and Origin/DVD.

You will need to uninstall the Steam version, redeem the code at Origin and install the Origin verison instead

So I'm going to have to re-buy all the expansions I've bought on Steam on Origin and start my game allover again just to play Late Night?

Thank you so very much, I followed your steps and it all worked perfectly. Only thing I found annoying is that Origin made a desktop short cut to every expansion I have - and I hava fair few -_-. But  thankyou again, very happy. :cathappy:

You can just delete the ones you don't need.

They are just shortcuts so that won't affect your game.
