Why have I had 20 ping in Dallas for months and today I have 61

My ping is typically 16 to 22 in Dallas which it's been this way for months I get on almost every single day and today it has me in Iowa with 34 -43 ping. It states that Dallas servers would be 61 something doesn't seem right with this is anyone else experiencing these same issues?

I live in Houston it makes absolutely no sense to why this would be.
