I have tried every tip on the site and I am logged into Origin. I resent the verification e-mail and now Sims 3 launcher comes up with a runtime error as well as saying unale to connect to EA download manager. I can not download any content from the exchange or install any updates at all and my accounts are not connected but I have tried everything to get them connected. I'm lost! Please help!

Try to download and apply the patch manually. The most recent version does mention it fixed server connectivity.

Make sure you download the version for your operating system and region.
