Sims 3: Can't play new expansion packs? [ Edited ]

I just got Sims 3 Generations today and after I installed it and went to go play it I couldn't.
It just said, "No disc found, Please insert Seasons before continuing" which is what I previously had installed.

Why does this happen?
I haven't updated the game at all mostly because it takes too long,

My Version:
Version 16.0.136.021001


My sister also has this problem on her own computer.

I don't have a mac, but I do have a laptop.

I do have custom content though.

the game always plays from the newest installed game in your case seasons generations is older than seasons disk or digital download even though you just installed generations the game needs the seasons disk or download to play
