Glitch with Sims 3 Store Redeem Points Button

★★★★ Novice

So I went to redeem my 1000 simpoints for the World Adventures Expansion pack after registering it on Origin, and I'd previously redeemed my 1000 simpoints for registering the base game. I clicked the "Redeem Points" button that was still there for some reason even though, as I said, I'd already redeemed the points from my base game. I thought perhaps it meant redeem points for WA and I'd put the game's code in but didn't ask for a code at all and it just gave me the simpoints. I thought perhaps it already knew I had WA and that was how you redeem it? But the button was still there afterwards and I began to worry that I'd accidentally registered my base game twice (since I have two EA accounts and can't remember which one I redeemed my base game on.) I clicked it again to see what would happen, if it would deny me or not, and it went through again, so then I had 2000 simpoints. I clicked it one more time, just to see, and now it says I have 3000 simpoints! Well, I just want my free 1000 simpoints that comes with WA, I don't wanna cheat the system and get more simpoints than what I'm entitled to (I would feel guilty!) nor do I wish to get in trouble for it. I tried contacting EA support but that didn't work, I can't tell if it's the website or my computer. So here I am, on the forums, searching for an answer. Can anyone please help me? How can I fix this? Why is this happening? Please and thank you!

Re: Glitch with Sims 3 Store Redeem Points Button

@roseredpinball  Origin and the Sims 3 store access the same account information, so if you register a pack in one, the other will also receive that information.  Also, if you'd tried to enter your code in the store, you would have received a message that the code had already been used.  So there's no way you could have registered the same base game code twice, either in two separate accounts or just the one.

This glitch—where someone redeems points multiple times in a row for the same pack—is rare but not unheard of.  I suppose you could contact EA customer support to ask that the extra points be removed.  It might also happen on its own, as the system self-corrects.

One more thing to add:  I hope you plan on taking advantage of the Daily Deal sales rotation.  There are some great deals stilll available, and a few very helpful players have put together a chart outlining how it works.  As a bonus, if you're trying to complete sets, you get credit for the full value of the item(s) you've purchased, not how much you paid for them.
