I just lost everything as well. My game started crashing after the new patch, and i finally got it started and to my surprise i lost all my save

I found my problem of saved games not available, eliminated after i turned off protected folders in Windows 10 1709.  Once the game has the ability to write to your "Documents" folder the saved games are available.

Check to see if you have protected folders on.  Windows 10 security.
