When I open the launcher and click the play button it will not start

 Ever since yesterday I had a problem with trying to play the Sims 3, I recently  purchased and downloaded island paradise expansion pack.  After it was downloaded to my mac I tried to play the game but it's just immediately stopped before starting the game.  I'm a little stressed and I have no idea what to do .....  also when I try to update The launcher,  three icons appear at the bottom.  For some stupid reason the update  wouldn't work I tried to do it over and over again and it still wouldn't update

Apply the 1.67 patch manually. Do you have any CC or Mods which may not be compatible with Island Paradise?
