Was gone after a few minutes when I reentered the chat. Still annoying ...

We are currently investigating some reports of chat issues.

The first time you are entering the chat it can take a few moments to load all channels and messages (depending on how many there are). Once the chat has completely refreshed and loaded, the issue should not occur. It should definitely not take minutes to load, depending on your device and internet connection.
