One of the challenges is to get 500 spot assists with the peacock perk. My question is, do flare spots or periscope spots count??

Spot Flare or Periscope doesn't count. As @Ourumov13 said you need to use Q-R1-RB.

I haven´t tried that one yet, but it doesn´t say "spot flare assist" or "periscope spot assist", so I´m pretty sure that you just have to spot an enemy (using the Q key or R1/RB on console) and someone has to kill the spotted enemy.

Please give it a try, I would be happy about your feedback
