When I try to start playing with a new household, nothing happens

Everything seems to be Ok, game loads normally, town loads normally, I can make a new sim or choose a household, but when I click "start play" button, nothing happens. I tried to wait some time but it was still the same. I tried to save the game, then reload and I could get only to the city, there was no active household. I can play with already saved households without problem, but cannot start new one.

This started when I installed Tropical paradise expansion pack. I tried to uninstall it, but it didn't´t help.
