Lost The Sims 3 Disk

I have lost the sims 3 disk. I have no expansion packs, I just have the main Sims 3. I have an origin account but it appears I still need the disk for me to start the game. Please help me with this issue!! Do I have to buy another Sims 3 game or am I some how able to play it without the disk and if so, how could I do this?

You have to uninstall the disc version and install the download version from Origin instead. The disc version uses other means of verifying your copy than the Origin download version does.
