Can't register

I have been trying to register my Sims 3 with the serial I was emailed but it doesn't work. I've tried getting live chat support, but it doesn't work. Any ideas? I want to be able to download things from the Sims exchange, but I need my game registered to do so.

Did you buy the download version ? If so,did you try to log into thesims3.com with your Origin login ?
