Can't update the game

I can't update the game, it keeps saying 'update failed' and pops up with this message:
but then I don't get any prompt from Windows, ever. Other times this pops up, but once again, I don't get any prompt afterwards:
I went to UAC and manually lowered it to the lowest option, didn't fix it.
Quit Origin and opened it again as "run as admin", didn't fix it.
What am I supposed to do?
