Help please.

I was reinstalling The Sims 3 on my PC. I have upgraded EA download manager to Origin. I am now trying to install my add on games, Sims Life Stuff, & Diesel Stuff. It says I have to update my base game. When I go to do that it says cannot connect to ea download manager. What do I need to do. Please help. And thanks.
