SimCity won't launch on new PC - Windows 10

★★★ Novice

I just got a new gaming laptop and installed SimCity through the Origin app. It shows that the game installed fine, but the game itself won't launch. The game logo hangs out in the taskbar, but the task manager shows that the game is "not responding". No actual game window ever shows up either. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling SimCity and Origin itself, as well as doing a system restore to the laptop. I tried running the game in compatibility mode as Window 7, 8 and XP, but none of them load either. The game did work on my old laptop with Windows 7.

Something to try

uninstall origin through start - programs - Origin - Uninstall Origin

Then manually delete the origin folders from:

C:\Users\[name]\Appdata\Local

C:\Users\[name]\Local\Roaming

c:\ProgramData\

c:\Program Files\

Then re-download and reinstalling origin reinstall the game through there

You may need to enable the option to view hidden files and folders to view the Appdata folder. To to this in My computer go to view - options. The tab view and enable Show hidden files, folders and drives.

Ok, so it looks like the game only worked once Frown I went to play again today and I back to where I was with it not launching. I retraced the uninstall steps again, but this time it doesn't seem to work.

I having the same issue!

I am on Windows 7 64bit, Nvidia GTX 1080 and 16gb Ram.

I start the Game and the SimCity Logo appears for 3 seconds and after that nothing happens!.

Tried to repair the game, nothing changed, tried updating, nothing happend.

I dont think that re-download/install will help.

Last time i was able to play was 2016.

Any ideas?

ok, had the same issue this is how i fixed it. In origin click on sim city then click on the gear (settings) then click on game properties and uncheck "enable origin in game for sim city" ... that worked for me

I would to open this issue again. I have the same problem, and nothing works. I tried to reinstall everything, set compatibility, disable "Origin in game", but nothing. Still have SimCity icon in panel, but appears. Usually after few minutes it says SimCity crashed. Any ideas?

I went around and around with EA support for weeks and finally gave up. They just told me it was some sort of compatibility issue and I wouldn't be able to play.
