Origin crashes trying to update Apex

I have origin client on my

mac. i click on the apex shortcut on my desktop and runs from Nvidia Geforce Now. I have to always log in with my origin creds after launching. This time when i log in it pulls up my origin client and says I need to update apex to continue to play so i click update and everything just closes. I cant even find a button to update apex just solely through origin without running apex first.
