I understand not wanting to scare off new players by feeding them to the wolves immediately, but the sbmm algorithm you guys have implemented is absolutely terrible. It's made the game a sweat fest of insane proportions. I consider myself average maybe slightly better, but 80 of my last 100 deaths are to players with 10,000 more kills than me, 4k, and 20 kill badges. I've played the game since launch and haven't thought about leaving it until now. I could care less about new content if the game isn't fun anymore. Classic case of fixing what was never broken. Skill based matchmaking is for ranked mode please keep it there.

Put in solos and give THAT skill based match making. I feel like people who want to get better on a per game basis would flock to solos, rather than squads. (simply due to the fact that not having two random players is reassuring.)
The system they have in now anyways isn't that great. It's done wonders for player retention supposedly (https://www.dexerto.com/apex-legends/apex-legends-dev-confirms-sbmm-explains-why-its-actually-more-p...) but whatever it's using as a basis for "skill" doesn't feel like it's working. If it's been here since the end of season 2, that means I should be playing with similarly skilled players for the entirety of this season. Yet on a per-game basis I rarely play with people who beat me in damage (AKA the most important stat aside from accuracy.)

Honestly idk anymore I can only play half the week between the time im off and back on I always come back with really bad aim and it takes me awhile to get my aim back but once I do i start getting kills again I know I suck but its been putting me in with nubs lmao like level 15-30s every match I may suck but Im not that bad I just got 9 kills and won the game as kill leader for the first time since I started apex and it was a duo vs 3 the whole game i think SBMM halfway works but not entirely im just assuming Ive lost so much to be matched with nubs but last week I was matched with apex predators everyday when I was getting kills so it works but either too low level players or too much not that perfect in between honestly Im just happy for that Apex Predator Badge on Gibralter

Not that I'm saying u dont deserve the chance to win, but a player with minimal time invested and rusty should not be rewarded with easy matchmaking. That makes the people who are less invested in the game happy. To have a stable playerbase, there has to be a reward for skill players. Otherwise, why would anyone take the time to get better. The logic behind nerfing/limiting the high skill is wrong. This is the same problem that led to the death of fortnite. This problem frequently occurs in games
-regular players get dramatically better having adjusted to game mechanics
-infrequent players struggle to remain competitive
-game strives to keep infrequent players
-subsequently loses main player base in process
The way to keep the player base is by introducing new game play mechanics that dramatically change the meta of a game. In a sense, you need to leave all players clueless without changing existing systems. This will create a new learning curve that everyone experiences. Punishing skill players is the death of regular player base

Everyone keeps complaining about SBMM (Skill Based Match Making) and asking the devs to remove it, but as far as I can tell there is no SBMM, or if it does exist it's completely non-functional because most complaints are about high-level players and teams destroying lower-level players in non-ranked games. If SBMM existed and was working properly this should never happen unless the high-level players were playing with a smurf account.
I'm also very frustrated with non-ranked matches. Whenever my brother and I, who are both platinum, join a non-ranked lobby it seems 90% of the time we get grouped up with some inexperienced random who proceeded to run into firefights solo while we're still 200+ meters away, or solo-drops on the other side of the map, and/or dies as soon as we encounter the enemy and promptly quits. It's easy to tell they're low-skill players are being mismatched with us, doing neither of us any favors.
Typical match is we'll hop into a non-ranked lobby, get a level 10 player new to the game on our team, land on the outskirts of Capitol, encounter another squad who promptly kills our teammate (who usually quits right away) and then proceeds to steamroll us. Looking at the enemy stats after death it's a pre-made squad each with over 10k kills and hammer and predator emblems. We don't actually mind competition but it's extremely frustrating when our team members probably have a dozen or so hours in the game total and we're matched up against a coordinated squad of Predator level players.
Again, if SBMM existed or was functioning properly this should never happen.

I never experienced any noticeable SBMM from S1 up to this weekend. But when me and my friend were playing yesterday, it was crazy.. We played at least 15 games and every single match was super stacked. At least 60% of the drop trails were either Predator or Diamond, and everyone at the server was clearly skilled above average. Every time we died and looked at our killer squads banners, they always had high dmg badges and 5-10k kills etc. Even our third random was "good" in every single game which definitely was unusual.
So it seems like Respawn did something with the matchmaking this weekend and I honestly dont know how this will turn out... Im all for fair competition in games like CS, LoL, Quake etc but BR is something else, and especially such a fast fps and somewhat "rng" BR as Apex. To put it simply: to play a "casual" BR match of Apex where literally everyone at the server is in the 2-5 K/D skill level isnt that much fun. If I wanted that, I would have played ranked.
