Mermaids can get trapped [ Edited ]

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Build a deck on a waterfront lot. Add a hole in the deck so the ocean is accessible. Add an open water ladder so Sims may traverse this section like a pool Have a mermaid Sim enter enclosed ocean section
What happens when the bug occurs? The mermaid Sim enters the open water section and is now trapped there for good. doesn't seem to be any work around short of destroying the built section and rebuilding
What do you expect to see? Mermaids either should be able to simply climb the ladder OR otherwise have some way to get out... whether jumping out, pulling themself up, something. Not being able to climb the ladder should not trap mermaids.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

This works as intended. Mermaids should swim to shallow water where they will transform to their human form. I can't say for sure of course but I doubt that they are going to change how it works.

Not being able to climb the ladder may be working as intended, getting trapped so they can not leave and die seems to be a problem.

As stated they don't need to climb the ladder but mermaids should be able to avoid getting trapped somehow.
