Why is origin downloader so slow? [ Edited ]

I'm currently downloading Crysis 3, its at 78% and its been 24hrs!!! My download speed rarely gets above 250kb/sec. I download Torrents faster than this, WHAT THE F@%K

I will never purchase through Origin ever again!

Ya know I would have thought taking a break for a few months would have given EA enough time to fix problems like this. I forgot that they have lost their ways and only care about the money they bring in rather than supporting the products they push out.

Slowest download speeds I have ever seen. 

Slow network connection? Can't even see the games in my library...

Once I can can't download the expansions...

Random crashes...

Battelog does not work well to find servers...

And before you say it is on my end lets have a look eh?

usually when I download stuff from the internet the transfer rate is about 600kb/s but with origin my download speed is never above 100kb/s.  it took me nearly 12hours to download BF3 End Game expansion pack.  this is ridiculous internet download speeds.  EA should really fix this.  now I see why people are going to steam instead of origin.

I agree with this i can install any game on steam with an avg speed of 2.5 mbps and origin downloader gives me an avg speed of 500kbps

i have 90 kb/sec and says it will take 67 hours to dowload battlefield 3, this is bs

i can normally get 1-3 megabites per sec on utorrent

Since these factors are unique for every user it is near impossible to diagnose "why" you are getting slower than average download speeds unless you want to start getting into packet captures and things like that which are beyond the scope of this forum. 

Since you mentioned you get better rates through other programs (Firefox etc.), if I had to guess I would say the problem lies between your ISPs network and the nearest Akamai server. Akamai technologies are used for Origin's content delivery system. 

I can tell you that Origin will use any available network bandwidth while you are downloading a game. So my advice would be to shut down any other programs that may be using up bandwidth (Skype, file sharing) and try running your downloads when you aren't going to actively using your PC.

mine took 28 hours!!!!! just for sims 3. its been at 64% for the past 2 hour and say it still has 5 more hours to go
