Unable to connect to the EA Download Manager

So, I recently got my cousins old computer and was attempting to install Sims 3 on it, thinking it should work better on here than my own laptop. I'm trying to install the expansions to it, and it says to go update my game via the launcher. The thing is, when I tried this, it couldn't connect to the launcher from what it said. Any help?
