Sims 3 University Life won't work on my iMac

I just bought sims 3 university last night, and installed the game with no trouble. However, every time I get to the main menu of the game, a message pops up saying that I didn't insert the game disc. I've now tried restarting my imac and trying again about 15 times, and I'm very frustrated. I've had a disc authentification message before, but only with scratched discs, and even then restarting the computer would always work. This disc is brand new, and I've handled it very carefully, so it is in perfect condition. It is not a problem with my disc drive, as I have played sims on this computer before. Please help, I'm anxious to play the game and very disappointed that it isn't working!
