So many problems with The Sims 3 Starter Pack (HELP!)

Could the problem be that I didn't download the expansion packs through origin? I redeemed the product codes on origin but the game still won't open the right way. It tells me to put the Late Night disk in and I do but my computer doesn't recognize the disk. I can update the launcher but it takes an hour and it tells me to update again right after it finishes.

@Kellifer17 I would first suggest that you download and install the super patch. If it asks if you want to overwrite your current game version, say "yes." The super patch can be found here: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/FAQ-Current-Patch-1-67-Manual-links-and-more/td-p/67858

When you say that the game does not read your disc? How so? Is there an error message? Does the game not pick up that the disc has been inserted?
