It says it cant verify if disc is a valid copy [ Edited ]

i just installed sims 3; when i start up the game it loads fine but as soon as it gets to the game and small box pops up saying it can verify if the disc is a valid copy of sims 3. Then it goes completely out of sims and back to the desktop. I am playing this on a mac, dont know if that  has anything to do about it
