Sims 3 Not Launching

My computer meets the requirements, Origin installed the latest patch, I manually installed the latest patch, and I made sure the install order was correct. After the launcher opens and I click "Play", the game opens in my task manager for a second and then disappears with nothing. Tried rebooting my computer, everything is running administrator, I tried compatability modes (I have Windows 8)... Any thoughts? I tried doing research and it seems like a pretty common problem that no one knows the solution to.

Sims 3 conflicts with Bit Defender antivirus 2013, apparently. Solved my issue by uninstalling it, but I wish I didn't have to...
