Sims 3 Bundle will not launch

I have just bought and installed the Sims 3 Bundle, which includes Sims 3, the Late Night Expansion, and the High End Loft Stuff.  I am running windown 8 with no touch screen.  When I open Sims 3, I get the Welcome Center.  When I click the "play button" the Sims goes away and nothing happens.  The game closes.  Please help.
