Showtime Expansion the sims 3 serial code invalid?

I bought a showtime expansion from a store and was assured by the staff there that the SN code was still intact and usable. I've tried loading it and installing it but when it comes to typing in the  serial code, it says it's already been used? I've spent money on this showtime expansion and it doesn't work? Please tell me what EA  are going to do to help a customer? Thank you

if the game was bought 2nd hand/used the code/s will be tied to the original persons account and are non transferable nor can they be reregistered to another account for ,newly bought games either from origin or from a shop/store even newly bought games can run into the used/invalid code issue and you may need to contact CS
