Can I buy expansion packs through origin if my base game is not in origin?

So I installed the base game as a disc when I got it, and I didn't install it to origin. My question is, can I buy an expansion pack digitally through origin if my base game isn't installed there?

If I can't, how can I reinstall my base game to origin?
