Register Fails in Sims 3

Downloaded and paid for the Sims 3 for my mac.  I can get to the launch screen and click play, but the game will not load.  Wondering why? I can eassily request a refund, but I wanted to play it so I want to know why it does not work.

Are you experiencing an error message when trying to play the game? If so, what does the error message read?

Have you tried control clicking on the Sims 3 game tile in Origin and selecting "Repair"?
