ALWAYS a download in progress

★★ Novice

Every time I try to open a game a window pops up stating:

"Download in progress

Launching this game while a download is in progress can negatively impact gameplay. Are you sure you want to continue?

[OK]           [CANCEL]"

Meanwhile my download queue is empty.

It has been months and it is still happening.

How can I solve this??

Clearing your Origin cache may help with this, do let us know either way.

Thanks.

When I try that following the instructions for Windows players:

  1. First, make sure you can view hidden files and folders:
  2. If Origin is running, close it by clicking Origin in the menu bar then Exit.
  3. Click Start, then Computer, then double-click (C: ) to open the C:\ drive
  4. Open the ProgramData folder, then the Origin folder, and delete all the files and folders inside it except for LocalContent.
  5. Go back to C:\:
    1. Open the Users folder,
    2. Open the folder with your username,
    3. Open AppData,
    4. Then Roaming,
    5. Then Origin
      • Delete all the files and folders inside.
    6. Go back to the AppData folder:
      1. Open the Local folder,
      2. Open the Origin folder
        • Delete all the files and folders inside          "

I do not have a LocalContent folder nor archive, and yes I have SHOW HIDDEN FILES on. Do I still delete everything? Even though I will have nothing left?

No.

C:\ProgramData\Origin is the location of the files and folders to delete, excluding LocalContent (keep this one).

The other location to delete files from is: C:\Users\*username\AppData\Roaming\Origin and C:\Users\*username\AppData\Local\Origin

The location in your image is C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin - do not delete all of these files.

I did that and it solved the problem for a day, as soon as I turned off the PC and restarted the game the "Download in progress. Launching this game while a download is in progress can negatively impact gameplay. Are you sure you want to continue?" sign pops up again.
And when I repeted the process deleting the files it didnt solve it again.

Depending on your internet speed, downloads can take some time and if the process is not allowed to complete it will keep notifying you.

Are you shutting off your machine daily? Maybe leave the machine on until the process is completed. There is no problem associated with leaving a PC on for days at a time.

The thing is that my download queue is empty. I haven't downloaded a game in a while and with all the updates it notified me of "download complete".
I have always kept Origin updated with the latest version, and given that it worked once I believe there isnt anything downloading
