failed to start because side-by-side configuration is incorrect

I've updated with the patch, and when I try to start the game I get "The application has failed to start because side-by-side configuration is incorrect."

Help please.

Go to Origin, right click on the image of your game and click repair. Fixed this issue for me

I do not have the repair option on my screen? also tried the disc but no such option appears.. ideas?

Its posible you don't have this option in which case you should reach out to support

If like me you've tried everything to resolve this error - and nothing works, you might try checking (if you have one for your app) the .config file.

What we found was a comment block the was NOT CLOSED - thus making the rest of the .config file from that point onward one big comment!
