For people having this problem with the in game origin that's work for me you need to go in the settings of the game and put fullscreen with windowing. ( sorry for my bad english).

None of these things have fixed it for me. Both me and a friend are having this issue. Pretty annyoing there hasn't been an acknowledgement of it by EA/Origin support.

Yeah--come on EA, we need a fix! (I can't even buy your useless DLC junk in-game as it is.)

The resolution for this has been posted in a few other threads.

1.  Use the Origin BETA client (Current Version: 9.3.5.4598 - 237517 - E2-S2-A2-L2)

  • Open the Origin program
  • Click "Origin" at the top of the window and click on "Application Settings" in that pulldown menu
  • Scroll down to the bottom of this window and click "Update to the beta version when available"
  • Close and restart the Origin program to initiate the BETA download/install

2. Enable Origin In Game for all games

  • Click "Origin" at the top of the window and click on "Application Settings" in that pulldown menu
  • Click on the "Origin In Game" tab
  • Make sure that "Enable Origin In Game" is checked
  • Under that, click on "All games"
  • Close and restart the Origin program to save changes

3.  Change your Dead Space 3 video settings to stop the Origin In Game conflict

  • Open Dead Space 3 from within the Origin program
  • Navigate to the Visuals menu
  • Enable VSync (some people don't need this to work but others do)
  • Enable "Windowed (Fullscreen)"
  • At this point, an Origin In Game message should appear
  • Close Dead Space 3
  • Close and restart the Origin Program
  • Open Dead Space 3 to confirm that Origin In Game still works

If after completing all of these steps, you are unable to access Origin In Game, please post below.

I have done all of those, and still not working...

I have attempted the following

1) running origin in beta

2) enable OIG for all games

3) enabled "windowed (fullscreen)" and vsync

4) disable antivirus

5) run in dead space 3 in compatibility mode

6) run dead space 3 as admin

7) ran 5 & 6 both

Please give me more steps, or help please.

Origin Version - Version 9.3.5.4613 - 237971 - E2-S2-A2-L2

I followed EVERY step and the OIG does NOT work under any circumstances for Dead Space 3 (I have not tried any others as they are not installed and are not likely to be for awhile).

EDIT: I finally figured out the problem after hours of messing with it trying to get it to work. If you use Riva Tuner or any other FPS counter, turn the actualy ability to count the FPS OFF. For me it was EVGA's "RivaTuner Statistic Server" by turning the "Application detection level" to "none" and the OIG worked since then (although I have had to switch the game to windowed fullscreen and back to get it to start working, but at least it works now).

In short EA, along with the ration seals bug, fix the interference with OIG overlay and FPS counters of all sorts. Thanks.

This isn't a problem specific to Windows 8, you'll still have the same problem on Windows 7.  For me, MSI Afterburner/RTSS interferes with the Origin in-game overlay and prevents it from working.  The OIG overlay is necessary to send and receive Dead Space 3 co-op invites.  This is a major flaw in Origin that EA needs to fix ASAP.  I hope they're working it, but there's really no way to know.

I posted over on the Guru3D forums, and Unwinder (aka Alex N., the creator of RivaTuner) informed me this was a problem on EA's end.  He told me that "there is an explict RTSS protection in Origin software and it can be resolved from their side only."
