Error Game disconnected: client closed down connection

I get on to Battlelog and find a server I want to join then I hit join server and the blue box appears at the bottom of the screen saying logging in, connecting and then it turns red and I get this message.

Game disconnected: client closed down connection

I have tried repairing the install, reinstalling, using smart port forward, going into the redist folder and installing vcredist_x64 and vcredist_x86 but nothing works. I have had this game for 3 days and not once have I played a multiplayer match.

PS. I can join servers with 0 other people in them.

update punkbuster manually to latest.
