BF4 not saving on exit

BF4 on exiting the game has started to show "Battlefield has stopped working". It happens when the screen is 'black' and showing only the white flashing cursor. I have tried repairing the game, re-installing it (along with Windows 8.1) refreshing all the files etc, cleansing cache, re-installing Battlelog and Origin and it still does not save and the same error shows. I have removed the save to cloud etc in Origin as well.
