This is a workaround and not a permanent fix.  When I spawn with no hands and no weapon, I hit the button to switch weapons (Triangle on PS3, “Y” on Xbox, and whichever key you bound to swap weapons on PC), the game will hesitate slightly and my hands will appear with my pistol.  I hit the button again and it swaps at normal speed to my primary weapon.  This works every time for me and I play BF3 on PC, Xbox, and PS3.

How do they expect us to buy BF4 if they can't fix BF3. I would join a class action as it is becoming worse.

Pressing any button does not fix this problem. I can predict it before I start a game. Go to my soldier on the main screen and try to change your loadout weapons. Sometimes the weapons don't even appear in this screen which is a sure sign that if you join a game, you will have no weapon. i then quit the game and start again. Sometimes, the weapons will come back, but not always. EA do not care because they are putting their effort into BF4.
