I gifted my friend Titanfall 2 but he can't play it

So a few days ago, I bought Titanfall 2 for my friend. It works for me, but not him. Whenever he tries to open it from steam, nothing happens and it closes. And if he tries launching it from the EA store, it says he doesn't have it and he has to "Buy the game". Can you please help me and my friend?
