So I started to play Sims 4 on the new MacBook Air with the M1 chip and the game works great, no complaints in terms of the performance. However, I did notice that the audio crackles and pops almost like a blown out speaker playing music. This happens when loading into the game or into different places and also when music is playing in the game. I am not sure why this is happening, it happens without any CC and is very annoying. I have tried to repair the game as well as move out the Sims folder and have the game create a new one. None of these methods helped. I noticed the crackling does not happen as much when quality is turned down low but it is still there. I am wondering if this could be because of Rosetta 2 or if it is something that can be fixed.

I found a solution. No promises that it'll work for everybody, but it seems to be working for me. Open the Audio MIDI Setup app (should be under Other in Launchpad), click the Format dropdown, and change it to 96,000 Hz. I don't know why this worked, but I'm not having any crackling anymore.

Ah okay thank you for the reply, I figured it was a compatibility issue. I wonder if EA will ever release an M1 friendly version of the Sims 4.

I'm having the same issue.
I'm also having an issue with audio crackling when playing the game, which started before this update but is still occurring after updating. Audio crackling only occurs in the game.

Hello, I have the same specs as you but how do you get more memory? I have 8, is there a way to add more?
