❗️ [WORKAROUND] Pointer clicks off-target on Macs with display camera notch

[ Edited ]

Hi!

Just received my new MacBook pro with an M1 Pro, and the first thing I did, was open sims 4, but alas, it's extremely buggy and runs on Rosetta 2. Just hoping you guys would push out an update soon for it! thanks

Marked as the solution for workaround visibility

There are a couple of workarounds to this issue for users with the camera notch in their Mac display:

  1. Look for The Sims 4.app in Applications.  Right-click the app > Get Info.  Then check the box for "Scale to fit below built-in camera" (thank you @SimQARobo)
  2. Play in Windowed mode instead of fullscreen
  3. Set the resolution to 3024x1890 in fullscreen

@marounn_

How is it buggy? Would be good to know. The game has been running beautifully on the M1 Macs over the last year which of course requires Rosetta 2.

Did you migrate over to the new Mac or install everything from scratch?

Hi! When in full screen, the pointer doesn't click on where it should. Like I'd have to press it under a selection to click something and it's like that for the whole game. I did install the game as new from origin

@marounn_

Thanks Standard smile that’s nothing new and not exclusive to the Mx Macs, it’s been reported sporadically by people ever since the game was released. Try repairing in Origin a couple of times. If it still happens try a clean TS4 folder.

EA Sims Team

Hello @marounn_

I heard there are a couple of possible workarounds you can try for this problem:

  • Look for The Sims 4.app in Applications.  Right-click the app > Get Info.  Then check the box for "Scale to fit below built-in camera"

OR

  • In your game settings, set the resolution to a lower setting.

Buttons hardly clickable

[ Edited ]
★★ Novice

I recently bought the new MacBook Pro with M1 chip. It has version 12.0.1 of macOS Monterey installed. Ever since I started playing the Sims on this Mac, I am suddenly less able to click buttons. I need to click about half an inch below a button to be able to click is. But some of the buttons, such as work, relations etc. are so low that I can't click them. So now the relations tab is open all the time and I am unable to click the other tabs (I included a screenshot to explain what tab I mean). It's also very hard to switch sims, because those buttons are very low as well. Please help me. What do I do to fix this?

sims 4 14" Mac trackpad issue

★★★ Newbie

Hey Guys,

Ever since purchasing my new 2021 MacBook Pro 14", whenever I play sims in full screen mode the mouse does not line up with what I am trying to click (it's usually about a centimetre off). The only solution I have found for this is to play sims in windowed mode but surely there is a better option?

Re: Buttons hardly clickable

@emma_rb29

Does it also happen in windowed mode or just full screen?
