Sims 3 Launcher "There are no packages to install"

[ Edited ]

Hello, I'm trying to install custom content on the launcher but it tells me "there are no packages to install"

I'm not sure what to do, I tried clearing my cache and restarting my laptop. I also tried removing my Sims 3 document files to generate a new one

I know it can be installed as package files through other ways but i'd still want my launcher to work.

Please let me know what the solution is.

Thank you so much!

I was having this same problem but I figured it out! For me it turned out to be the new EA App. Go to settings in the upper left of the EA App.

Then go to "Application".

I changed two settings under here.

1: Under "Notifications", chose "none" from the dropdown list for "when I'm in a game".

2: Also disable the "in-game overlay".

The launcher should be able to uninstall/install sims3packs again!

Re: Sims 3 Launcher "There are no packages to install"

@night0ceans  When you download the custom content, are you double-clicking on the files?  If so, try placing them in the correct folder: Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Downloads.  And make sure they have the extension .Sims3Pack, not anything else.

If this doesn't help, please post a screenshot of the folder that contains the files, as in, I want to see a list of the files themselves.  Include the address bar, above the list of files and folders, in the screenshot.

@roberta591  This player is trying to install .Sims3Packs through the launcher, not .package files.  So the Mods folder is irrelevant.

I've tried both double-clicking and putting them in the downloads file. Here are the screenshots.

In this case this has anything to do with the issue, I am on windows 11.

Thank you again for trying to help me!

I am having this exact same problem, I'm amazed there are no other entries / google results for this problem, I'm in a sims 3 group with 5,000+ members and 100 people have said they've got this same problem in the last month. The common things seem to be: we're all either on Windows 11, recently switched to the new EA Games Launcher, or in my case- both. (It was working fine when I was still using Origin last month). I can also no longer uninstall content through the launcher either. Frown

I've also recently switched to EA launcher and I'm suspecting that the EA platform is the problem here. Everything was working perfectly fine before I switched to EA from Origin.

@night0ceans @jacobs-jottings @bkook74 @LovelyBunnyHops @r2567 and anyone else affected by this issue

Please list the following details:

  • What game launcher you're using (Origin, EA App, Steam; or disc)
  • If you use Origin or the EA App, whether switching to the other helps
  • What Windows build you're using, not just the name but the build number, i.e. Windows 10 22H2 (you can find it under Settings > System > About)
  • What third-party antivirus you're using, if any
  • Whether Window's Defender's Controlled Folder Access is on, and if it is, whether you see a notice about it blocking Sims 3

Re: Sims 3 Launcher "There are no packages to install"

Champion

EA App

Switching doesn't make a difference

Win 11 Pro 22H2

No 3rd party

No blocking notice

Trying to install items I have purchased in the past  not CC.

Have backed up on a stick and they are in sims3 packs.

Can download to launcher but will not install. Says no package

Stranger is the fact that some will install and others not.  Sometimes after multiple tries.  Others after repairing game/deleting DC cache.  Some just refuse.

Even when I reinstalled the whole game it won't install Fast Lane stuffpack.  I have a ticket out on that one but so far no response.
