[FIXED] Want to solve hard problems for kids but only available to teens [ Edited ]

How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.90.358.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Vampire, holiday, patio, university
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? It’s a want that comes up with a child. Wait for it to show up?
What happens when the bug occurs? No option for this want
What do you expect to see? The option to fulfill this want in childhood
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Patch released 7/26/22 by maxis not a patch or anything I did.

My child sim has a want to “Solve Hard Problems (from being a genius)” but when I click on him to do this the only options are - “change outfit, sit on ground, and actions” the want says “click on your sim and run the Solve Hard Problems Interaction” no such action is available to me. I did update to the latest patch.

Child Sims with the Genius trait will no longer gain the Want to Solve Hard Problems, They’ll have to wait a few years before diving into such complex abstraction.

The bug template is currently working on/off but it helps if you are not prompted for the template while editing, please answer the questions anyways.

@danniegurl I had this issue too but once my child sim aged up to a teen, the option was there.

I just wish the option was either not there during childhood, was able to X out like we used to, or be able to do it in childhood.

But good to know it’ll change once I age my kiddo up. Thanks!

I swear.. there use to be an option with the university pack. there was a whiteboard you could buy, and place in the room so they could do so.. I feel like the patches are taking away items like crazy. I stay looking for decor stuff i can never find again. and i just came up on this same issue and realized the white board that I use to have from university is gone.

@quantummgirl Do you also not have it on teens ? For OP it was about the child not having the option but having the want to do so.

well yes it just so happened that mine was also for teens, but either way, the prompt shows up and theres nothing we can select or do to achieve the want. and if its showing up for teens and children.. then this is the same issue. I will make a separate post about missing items but the missing items I'm talking about are pertaining to this issue. 😠

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have a child that is a genius, and sometimes it pops up in their whims
What happens when the bug occurs? The undoable whim of wanting to solve a hard problem appears and you can't resolve it
What do you expect to see? I don't expect to see a whim a sim can't do for their current life stage
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? No
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Unknown

Since there is no official way to resolve this bug, I recommend installing https://www.patreon.com/posts/cheat-fix-for-22697405  and use the cheat "whims.clear_whim want_SolveHardProblems" as taught on this site https://simscommunity.info/2022/08/02/the-ultimate-list-of-the-sims-4-wants-and- fears/
