@kaiwryplays Thanks for sharing. This might be a better workaround. Maby I'll give it a try, but I really expect EA to fix it.

When I select the social event to climb the only location option I get says "genetic," no other locations listed. When I select that it brings me to the world map. I select a location and asks me to select Sims to travel there. After that I get an error code and says to restart game. I did not save the code but had restated the game three times. Playing on PC

Mountain Climb Excursions now start instead of automatically canceling. Let's go conquer those climbs together!

Fixed in Patch 1.90.358/1.91

I do hope this fix is also for existing saves.
