What is the Alternative to Battlefield? [ Edited ]

I have seen a lot of comments about people canceling their pre-orders. It seems that many people went for a refund after the beta.

I pre-ordered after the reveal trailer. DICE made it seem that we'll be getting a BF3/BF4 sort of game so everyone, including me, got hyped. 

Played the beta and discovered it's nothing like BF3/BF4. Specialists ruin classes and teamwork, very bad vehicle physics, 0 immersion with these cartoonish characters and their voice overs, bad UI, no spotting, commarose, scoreboard etc..

So I canceled it. I bought a PS5 for this.. 

I am now looking for a new game to play on console similar to BF3/BF4, but I can't find any!

People recommended Insurgency and I bought it a few days ago. I like it, it's a nice tactical shooter with great gunplay but it ultimately feels like any other shooter: spawn, kill people, get killed. It gets boring. BF is different as its a large, vehicle-based sandbox and that's what makes it special. You can sink hours and hours and never get bored. You get so many different experiences i.e rooftop shenanigans on Siege of Shanghai, tanking on Golmud, m320 spam on Metro, team trolling on hard-core. It's endless.

others recommended Hell Let Loose but I played it for 10 mins and uninstalled. I thought BF1 was the most boring game I played, but Hell Let Loose makes BF1 exciting!

The problem is that DICE doesn't have competition on console. I hope another major studio makes a game similar to BF3/BF4 soon:  a large, vehicle based sandbox with teamwork. It will be a nice middle group between arcade and tactical/milsim, unlike 2042 which went completely into the COD/APEX direction.

@Battlefield3_95 well there is not many shooters that are around at the same level as Battlefield is, there has always been most likely only Battlefield and CoD that were the go-to shooter games for FPS fans.

Especially if you think about console i don't see too many interesting games from this direction. FarCry 6 seems pretty dope tho, i'm really looking forward to this one, but for sure you can't compare it as it's a Open World Single player shooter game qnd not like Battlefield a multiplayer FPS.

Just giving you an idea what to play.

In exactly same situation us you @Battlefield3_95 !

I wish we could get our hands on the server- and client-side code for the BF4 game, and we could make hellova community driven and crowd sourced game for everybody, who are fans of the classic Battlefield gameplay and sensation! 

A remastering of the BF4 game is what many of the old BF Vets were asking for and wanting.

I hope you stick around with Battlefield as it's a great franchise. The only similar games I can think of is WW3 and somthing like heroes and generals

@CyberDyme So basically you want a prettier version of BF4. Is that what you are saying?

Not a lot of alternatives for console. Planetside 2 would be the closest I guess if you don't mind the future setting and the MMOFPS format.

Man I remember this guy from the old forums. We actually squaded up a few times. All he does is complain and hate on this franchise. He has many threads hating on BF1 when it released, then BFV, and now BF2042. Not a clue how he still has the patience to follow a franchise that's so abhorrent to him. 

I recommend you try reddit's sub r/gamingrecommendations. They have a dedicated community who answer questions like yours. I'm certain they will find a game for you that you'll like in no time. THIS forum is for those of who enjoy Battlefield.

I never posted anything on BF1 or BFV as I wasn't active on forums. I didn't even buy BFV..

Also, I have no clue who you are nor did we ever squad up.
