@edgecrusherO0 I don't see any FPS from EA launching well anytime soon. Whether its a star wars title, battlefield or Titanfall (which is already laid to rest?), even a new Apex Legends title I think would struggle to escape the brush which EA have tarred themselves with. Especially because they are apparently aiming at another near future current setting which everyone will be bored of by next year. so apparently can't even learn the lessons from previous battlefield titles. going bc2 bf3 bf4 hardline all modern then bf1 bfv 2 historic titles in a row. spread that out go old then new then kinda old then future etc.

Brothers in battle ...
I'm not a critic, but this part is lost .. it won't save any patch.
The whole essence of the battlefield is destroyed. The classes that defined the game will never be here.
I don't understand why we are starting to discuss mechanisms half a year after the release. It makes no sense. It will never be the battlefield we know and love. It's something between a fortite and a battlefield.

I have the power to decide both EA / DICE and I will make it a free to play game, I will put microtransactions into it, the season and most importantly I will RENAME it.
Starting today, I will make a quality battlefield and engage mechanisms that work from older parts and compensate players for being pre-ordered for a new part.

I want to play the battlefield with friends who will complement each other. I don't need superheroes. I would just need a BF3 in a new coat and I would also want a premium=new DLC

I agree with Go1i's post above mine, to some extent. I do have fun with 2042 in its own right, but I don't feel like I'm playing a Battlefield game. Nobody listens to my voice commands (need ammo, health, follow me etc.), reads my squad channel chat messages or works with other squad members in general. All incentive to work as a team is gone from this game. Most people just run around as lone wolves.

2042 feels like a spinoff, and that's fine too. It can have a place in the series, I just think there's too much freedom of choice to be a mainline title. And "unique heroes with personalities" do... not fit in Battlefield, I'll be honest. And there's too much parkour, soldiers are too mobile. Sliding is annoying, and jumping doesn't punish your accuracy enough.

It could very well be a free to play spinoff to attract players who enjoy that lone-wolf Call of Duty mentality.

To me, Battlefield 2142 was the best, and I hope the next mainline game takes after 2 or 2142. Or even 4, I wouldn't mind that either.

The perfect Battlefield to me:

No "unique perks and abilities" (instead kits and squad upgrades), no sliding or jumping around with SMGs like bunnies on Red Bull, no wingsuits or grappling hooks, vehicles spawn in base and on certain flags to give everyone an equal opportunity, commander mode without fighting commander. More anti armour and air utilities. Unlimited running is fine, but traversal sprint should be limited. Jumping should deplete stamina too.

I'd love Battlefield 6 to be in 2143, hehe.

It's now mid-April and this "journey" continues to go nowhere. 6 months without a major update to the game, and with the "April" update still a vague, nebulous thing that DICE won't deliver specifics on.

This is not a fun journey, DICE. This is an immensely frustrating "journey".

For a live service game it's terrible.

Battlebit remastered is looking far better.

The indie dev actually communicates to it's players even stream whilst making the game.

That's commitment not like the cash grab and empty promises from DICE/EA.

@Straatford87 Will we be getting any other updates like this?

The "feedback loop" seems to have ground to a half and we're almost a month out from the "close" of the last loop with no word on when the specialist "feedback loop" is actually going to start, just "in a few weeks" which passed last week so we're a week late on that.

How about other blog posts or updates about what the team is working on? Some communication? How goes the work towards starting S1 in "early summer"? What's the plan for S1 in terms of more details on what is coming in the way of new content? Has anything changed in the overall direction for this game with Vince and Marcus leading the franchise/narrative? Can we hear from them? Maybe another post from Ryan McArthur or another producer? Some team leads or something talking about the exciting work their teams are doing to make improvements to the game and on new content?

Honestly, outside of social media posts it feels like DICE is a brick wall for the most part and we never get much in the way of communication, and it's extremely frustrating and makes it difficult to have any optimism for the future of this game. We want y'all to succeed, DICE, even if we're frustrated with the continuing state of the game and poor communication. Extend an olive branch and a little bit of trust to the community, eh? Might help tamp down some of the more negative toxicity that often festers when the community feels ignored and abandoned : /

Still waiting, I guess the next "obligatory minimum once a month post" will be coming in May so we've got at least another week before we hear anything about the future of this game.

What a time to be alive!
