Punching instead of firing

When I'm going to fire a weapon, sometimes I experience that my characters start to punch instead of using the weapon as intended. What may cause this?

I'm playing on PS4, and I don't push down right joystick.

Which weapon are you using when this happens?

Have you tried using a different controller to see if it's hardware related or reinstalled the game yet to see if that clears it up?

I've had similar incidents on the ps4. It happens with any weapon and I unknowingly change weapons when it happens. I had a squadmate suggest changing button layout. I have not played enough to see if this helps.

Have not tried to reinstall the game, but I change between two controllers, and it happens when using both. Have also tried different weapons, and it still happens.

Have tried to change the button layout, but I’m very fond of how the buttons are located, except the hitting button. If it was a way to change to only that, I would be happy to see if it still happens.

it also happens a lot when I try to reload my weapons.
